The 2024/2025 UJA Scholarship Season Begins April 1, 2024

Important Application Information

HFLS will begin accepting applications for the three UJA Scholarship programs April 1, 2024.

Scholarships will be for the 2024/2025 academic year (which begins August 2024).

 The link to the scholarship application portal will be available on this web page April 1, 2024. 

The deadline to submit your 2024/2025 application will be midnight June 2, 2024.

If you are an undergraduate student and will be applying for a Rose Biller Scholarship, you must complete your FAFSA before applying for the scholarship. 

Graduate students applying for the Rose Biller Scholarship may also complete a FAFSA to demonstrate need, however this is optional for graduate students.

    Scholarship Overview

    Please Note: Undergraduate freshman are not eligible to apply for the three Scholarship Programs this 2024-2025 academic year.

    The Hebrew Free Loan Society administers three scholarship programs for the UJA-Federation of New York. This program provides approximately $1 million to students with financial need, primarily in New York City, Long Island, or Westchester.

    For undergrad students who intend to apply for the Rose Biller Scholarship* (if you have not already done so) it is imperative that you submit a FAFSA prior to the start of the application process.

    * If you are not awarded, or if the award amount is not enough to cover the cost of your college expenses, you may apply for an interest-free Undergraduate Loan of up to $30,000 ($7,500 per year for up to 4 years).

    UJA-Federation of NY Rose Biller Scholarship Fund
    The UJA-Federation of NY Rose Biller Scholarship Fund is open to Jewish residents of NYC’s five boroughs, Westchester, and Long Island with financial need. It provides scholarships to Jewish men and women with significant economic need attending undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools.

    The UJA-Federation of NY Jean and Albert Nerken Scholarship Fund is open to international students studying in NYC’s five boroughs, Westchester, or Long Island.
